Publication Ethics

PREDATECS: Public Research Journal of Engineering, Data Technology and Computer Science is one of the journals managed by the Institute of Research and Publication Indonesian (IRPI) which was first published in July 2023.  PREDATECS is a scientific journal published on-line and publishes articles or scientific works from research, community service, research-based community service and community development.

This statement of scientific publication ethics is a statement of the code of ethics of all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal, namely managers, editors, bestary partners, and authors. The Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication essentially upholds three ethical values in publication, namely:

  • Neutrality, which is free from conflicts of interest in the management of publications;
  • Fairness, which gives authorship rights to those who are entitled as authors; and
  • Honesty, which is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications.

After reading this Scientific Publication Ethics, please download the Ethics Statement and Copyright Agreement. Please sign and submit the Ethics Statement as part of your initial article submission. The Copyright Agreement must be submitted before the article can be published. The Ethics Statement and Copyright Agreement can be sent via email or OJS.

Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Managers

  1. Determine the name of the journal, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation if required.
  2. Determine the membership of the editorial board.
  3. Define the relationship between the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other parties in a contract.
  4. Respect confidential matters, both for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
  5. Apply norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright.
  6. Conduct a review of journal policies and communicate them to authors, the editorial board, bestary partners, and readers.
  7. Create code of conduct guidelines for editors and bestary partners.
  8. Publish the journal regularly.
  9. Ensure the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publishing.
  10. Building cooperation and marketing networks.
  11. Preparing licenses and other legal aspects.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor

  1. Bringing together the needs of readers and authors,
  2. To strive for continuous improvement of publication quality,
  3. Implement a process to ensure the quality of published papers,
  4. Promoting freedom of opinion objectively,
  5. Maintaining the integrity of the author's academic track record,
  6. Provide corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies where necessary,
  7. Responsible for the style and format of the paper, while the content and all statements in the paper are the responsibility of the author/writer,
  8. Actively solicit the opinions of authors, readers, bestarial partners, and members of the editorial board to improve the quality of the publication,
  9. Encourage the assessment of the journal if there are findings,
  10. Support initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by asking authors to submit an Ethics Clearance form that has been approved by the Ethics Clearance Committee,
  11. Support initiatives to educate researchers on publication ethics,
  12. Assess the effect of publication policies on the attitudes of authors and reviewers and improve them to increase responsibility and minimize errors,
  13. Have an open mind to new opinions or views of others that may conflict with personal opinions,
  14. Not defend one's own, author's or third party's opinions that may lead to unobjective decisions,
  15. Encourage authors/writers, so that they can make improvements to the paper until it is suitable for publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Reviewer

  1. Receive an assignment from the editor to review the paper and submit the results of the review to the editor, as material for determining the eligibility of a paper for publication.
  2. Reviewers may not review papers in which they are directly or indirectly involved.
  3. Maintain the author's privacy by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations.
  4. Encourage the author/writer to make improvements to the paper 5.
  5. Review the corrected paper in accordance with the predetermined standards.
  6. The paper is reviewed in a timely manner according to the publication's style based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legality, conclusions, etc.).

Duties and Responsibilities of the Author

  1. Ensure that those included in the author/writer list meet the criteria as authors/writers.
  2. Collectively responsible for the work and content of the article including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
  3. Declare the origin of resources (including funding), either directly or indirectly.
  4. Explain the limitations of the research
  5. Respond to comments made by the bestary partners in a professional and timely manner.
  6. Informing the editor if they will withdraw the paper.
  7. Make a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, has never been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of submission to another publisher.
