Post-Publication Discussion Policy
Indonesian Journal of Informatic Research and Software Engineering (IJIRSE) is committed to promoting transparency, academic integrity, scholarly dialogue, and continuous improvement in published scientific works. The journal encourages constructive post-publication discussions to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and scholarly contribution of articles reporting community service and community engagement activities.
Post-publication discussions may involve authors, researchers, reviewers, readers, community partners, and other stakeholders who wish to provide scientific comments, clarifications, or critical evaluations of published articles.
1. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion
IJIRSE welcomes constructive discussions concerning published articles, including:
-
The accuracy and reliability of reported findings and community service outcomes.
-
The appropriateness of methodologies, program implementation, and evaluation procedures.
-
The interpretation of results and the validity of conclusions.
-
The effectiveness, sustainability, and impact of community empowerment programs.
-
The originality, ethical compliance, and transparency of published work.
-
Additional evidence, alternative interpretations, or relevant scholarly perspectives that contribute to the development of knowledge.
All discussions must be evidence-based, academically relevant, respectful, and consistent with scholarly communication standards.
2. Submission of Comments and Discussions
Readers, researchers, and other interested parties may submit post-publication comments, questions, or concerns to the editorial office through the journal's official contact channels.
Submissions should include:
-
The title, author names, and DOI or URL of the article being discussed.
-
A clear description of the comments, questions, or concerns.
-
Supporting evidence, references, or relevant documentation, where applicable.
-
The name, affiliation, and contact information of the person submitting the discussion.
The editorial team will evaluate submissions to determine their relevance, scientific merit, and compliance with publication ethics.
3. Editorial Assessment and Author Response
The Editor-in-Chief or designated editor will assess submitted comments to determine whether further clarification, discussion, or editorial action is necessary.
When appropriate, the editorial team may forward relevant comments to the corresponding author and invite a formal response.
Authors are expected to respond professionally and provide appropriate explanations or supporting evidence.
The editorial team may consult independent experts or reviewers when additional scientific assessment is required.
The journal reserves the right to decline comments that are irrelevant, unsupported, defamatory, discriminatory, or inconsistent with professional scholarly communication.
4. Publication of Discussions and Responses
When considered academically significant and appropriate for publication, post-publication comments and author responses may be published through the journal's official website or another suitable editorial format.
Published discussions should clearly identify the original article and maintain transparency regarding the issues raised and responses provided.
The editorial team determines the appropriate format for communicating post-publication discussions based on their relevance, significance, and editorial considerations.
5. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions
If a post-publication discussion identifies a significant error, questionable finding, ethical concern, or other issue affecting the reliability of a published article, the editorial team may initiate further assessment.
Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, appropriate actions may include:
-
Requesting clarification or additional information from the authors.
-
Publishing a correction to address errors that do not invalidate the overall findings.
-
Issuing an expression of concern when serious questions remain unresolved.
-
Retracting an article when its findings are unreliable or serious publication ethics violations are established.
Such actions will be conducted in accordance with the journal's Correction and Retraction Policy and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
6. Ethical Standards and Responsibilities
All participants in post-publication discussions must uphold academic integrity, professionalism, objectivity, and respect for differing scholarly perspectives.
Authors are responsible for responding to legitimate concerns regarding their published work.
Readers and other contributors are expected to provide accurate information and reasonable supporting evidence.
Editors are responsible for handling discussions impartially, maintaining appropriate confidentiality, managing potential conflicts of interest, and protecting the integrity of the scholarly record.
7. Commitment to Scholarly Transparency
IJIRSE recognizes post-publication discussion as an important part of scholarly communication and quality assurance.
The journal is committed to providing opportunities for constructive scientific dialogue, facilitating appropriate author responses, and addressing credible concerns regarding published articles.
