Optimizing government websites as public communication media requires personnel with competencies in compiling and publishing information accurately, quickly, and attractively. However, limited staff capabilities in news writing prevent various government activities in Laweyan District from being optimally documented and publicized. This community service activity aims to increase institutional capacity in news writing so that the district website can be utilized more effectively for public communication. The method used is participatory assistance through the stages of needs identification, socialization, training, practice, and evaluation. This news writing activity involved 20 officials from 11 sub-districts within the Laweyan District, Surakarta City. Assistance materials covered news writing techniques, online news writing, and journalistic videography. The activity results showed an increase in participants' understanding and skills in compiling news and generating content published through government digital media. This mentoring contributes to website optimization as a public communication medium supporting digital government implementation, increasing information transparency, and strengthening Laweyan District's positive image. Evaluation results showed the participants' average understanding increased from 220 to 228, or experienced a 0.4-point increase after attending the mentoring sessions
